Editorial

This site has been going several months now and the committee have recieved some very positive feedback from around the world - so thank you! What it needs now is regular articles from you, the readers. Just send me anything you like and I will try to include it. I can now place photo's in the 'Gallery'. The Spanish contingent are now very active and growing quickly as they attract more ex-pats who have served with the Commando Gunners
I have added a Regimental Forecast of events and it is obvious how busy they are as they ramp up for their second Afghan deployment in as many years. The local papers have carried the story of LBdr Nick Makin who lost a leg on the last deployment and is fighting his way back to full fitness in order to go back out there with his brother who is in the unit. I have no doubt that he will make it!
79 Bty deployed to Belize earlier this year and the Regroup Branch donated £55.00 for a wreath to be laid in memory of those who died during the last visit to the area. Some pictures of the event will appear in the Gallery shortly.
Another ex member making the news recently is Bob Beggs who is planning to sail the "impossible" voyage, the 2,800 mile transit North West Passage. He intends to leave from Plymouth next month. An article on this endeavour appears in Devon Life Magazine (May 2008)
Paul Greene recently organised a very successful lunch and auction in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund. The highlight of which was Billy, the landlord of The Dolphin paying £400.00 for a Citadel print. Remember to pop in and thank him in passing - or better still enjoy a decent pint of Bass!
Is there any interest out there for forming a CGA Golf Society or any other type of grouping - please let me know and I will see what can be done.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in July here in Plymouth!
This old arial photograph shows The Royal Citadel prior to the extensive rebuild and will provoke memories of the 'old assault course' and 'water tunnel'. It is produced by the kind permission of Steve Johnson.
